Many people find home visits more comfortable, relaxed, and convenient than attending appointments elsewhere.
HOME VISITS
We can also offer flexible scheduling, so your physiotherapist can fit naturally around your routine and lifestyle.
Home visits allow us to work with you in your environment, making therapy highly practical. This may involve practicing everyday activities, setting up your space to reduce risks, or advising on equipment that can make life easier. We often involve family members or carers too, offering guidance and support so progress continues between sessions.
Our home-based physiotherapy begins with a thorough assessment, where we take time to understand your medical history, daily challenges, and personal goals. This will include information around recent surgeries or illnesses to help understand factors that could affect mobility, strength, balance and overall function.
A physical examination will follow which usually involves observing how the you walk, testing your balance and coordination, assessing muscle strength and flexibility, and evaluating your functional abilities like standing from a chair or climbing stairs. The Physiotherapist may also consider environmental factors, such as the safety of your home, to identify potential risks for falls or accidents.
Based on all of this information, we create a tailored treatment plan designed to support your health and independence. This plan sets realistic goals that are meaningful to you, such as making yourself a cup of tea or managing to stairs to remain sleeping upstairs.
Sessions may include guided exercises to build strength and balance, gentle stretching to maintain flexibility, and mobility safely around the home. If needed, with your permission we may refer you to other healthcare professionals.
At its heart, home-based physiotherapy is about much more than exercises – it is about restoring confidence, encouraging independence, and helping older adults live as well as possible even with the challenges of long-term conditions.
